What is it about time? Yes, I know — it flies. We had been planning our writers’ tour of Finland, and now it’s all over. It was wonderful to spend so much time in the company of such excellent writers. I learned so much from them all, and gained real confidence just from being included in their group. Each one of us writes in different voices, different styles, but although many of our themes diverge, many of them are the same. The pr material called us ‘world famous’. Well, it’s all about definitions, I suppose. But be that as it may, all are wonderful, wonderful writers. Please look out for their books, poetry and prose alike: Noel Duffy, Mike Horwood, Donald Adamson.
Personally, I don’t believe ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, but here is some photographic evidence of the tour anyway. And thanks so much to the Finn-Brit Society for inviting us and being such amazingly generous hosts!
It sounds just lovley. And I am so in agreement with your words here: “… a weekend like this one reminded me that being a writer is about expressing yourself, finding like- minded friends, sharing your passion for words and your belief in the importance of the imagination.”Yes, yes, and yes again. Good to be reminded, thanks to your weekend, and mine at the women writers retreat, of the really joyous side of what we do.
