Happy New Year everyone! A recording of my poem for the new year is just below, but first, in case you didn’t see the post I wrote on social media on December 31st, here is my toast to the year finally behind us, and the one just starting:
Here’s to
A jab in the arm instead of a poke up the nose
The feel of a warm body between outstretched arms instead of empty air
Sitting in crowded theaters and concert halls instead of staring at pixilated screens
Hope instead of anxiety
Truth instead of lies
Togetherness instead of isolation
And always respect, openness and love for each other
Here’s to
Gratitude for whatever good we were able to do in 2020
And the promise of progress in 2021
———————————————————-
And now for the promised poem. Just before the year’s end, I was asked to record myself reading a poem I had recently written on the theme of thankfulness. It is called To Dance Down the Road. I hope you like it.
Sue, I love this. Just what we needed. I especially liked the closing lines, Including “unabashed bond”. Also hope you will keep recording. Great to hear the words in your voice.
Thanks for that happy image in these dark times.
