In the past, Cambodia had a thriving film industry. That, like everything else, was obliterated in the 1970’s by the Khmer Rouge. But that industry is now coming back to the extent that a Cambodian film, The Missing Picture, was nominated for an Oscar this year.
There is now a new film being released that also promises to be stunning, both visually and thematically. It is called The Last Reel, and I was recently sent the trailer to preview. I think it shows a film of great promise. I know that it is making the film festival circuit now. I can’t wait to see it when it becomes more widely available. I’ll let you know, too.
