Books and magazines for sale

Last night was my last literary event of my stay, and it was great that it was held at a new non-profit initiative, the New Leaf Cafe. This is a cafe cum bookshop cum arts hub and they specialise in selling books and then giving the proceeds to local NGO’s. I read a few poems, gave the presentation about  Out of the Ruins and the Writing Workshop, then 5 of my students read their work from the magazine. These were different students than the ones who came to read in Phnom Penh. I’m trying to give as many as possible a chance to strut their stuff, and the ones who weren’t able to read a second time will do it next year, I’m sure. There was also a reading from the literary magazine , Nou Hach, which is one of the very few, if not the only, such magazine and organisation giving young Khmer poets a voice and a place to publish. It was a great evening. Hope you like the photos.
