My intrepid publisher has revealed for me (and now for you) the wonders of the site called Library Thing. It seems to be a networking site for book lovers who like to show the world what books they have and what they think about them. Every month or so they put up an “Early Reviewer’s List” where they offer to give away free books to people who want them and are willing to then go ahead and write reviews of them on their sites. And this month, three bluechrome books are listed: A Portrait of the Arsonist as a Young Man by Andrew McGuinness, Erik Ryman’s Doggone, and — of course — your own Sue Guiney’s Tangled Roots. So, check it out here and see how it works. It’s a lottery of sorts (it looks like over 200 people have asked for the 20 available copies of my book!), so if you’re feeling lucky……
I’m “off-Island” soon to go collect Number 2 Son from his amazing trip to Western China. He’s been gone for six weeks, and I’m sure I’ll find him even taller, thinner, more grown up and just as wonderful as ever. Can’t wait!
That is such a cool website…what a brilliant idea!!! I’m going to go off and have a nosey at what’s available…

Ps. I am so so excited!! I’ve just bought your book 🙂 (The downside is I have to wait till I’m in the UK to pick it up….)
have a lovely time with your boys, Sue.
I’m one of the 20 lucky people who will be getting a copy of your book. I’m looking forward to reading it. My blog address is now BooksPlease
Hi Sue – juliette07 from Librarything here. Just to let you know that I have snagged an Early Reviewer copy of your book. I have had a few before and my experience is that the books take ages to arrive – so don’t hold your breath but I will be reviewing your book. Warm wishes Julie
to Booksplease and Juliette: Thanks so much for getting in touch! I do look forward to seeing your comments,
Hi Sue
I recently won a copy of ‘Tangled Roots’ via librarything’s ‘Early Reviewers’ scheme, but the book hasn’t showed up, despite months having passed by. It seems I’m not alone either:

Is there any way you can lean on the publisher to get them to send the books out?
Regards
Richard
Richard – thanks for letting me know. I’m on it now and getting it sorted soon, one way or another. But how can i reach you? Your blog doesn’t let me post or anything and I’m having some trouble logging on to Librarything for some reason. Are you on facebook? Thanks again for your patience!
Thanks for that, Sue. I don’t use my ‘blogger’ blog, but my librarything id is rcorfield.
Looking forward to receiving your book before too long.
Richard
I was one of the lucky ones to be waiting for your book to arrive in August/September time but (as it’s now January) it’s obvious that your publisher won’t be sending them now.
I was really looking forward to reading it and still intend to pick up a copy from a local bookshop.
I did think you’d want to know about the publishers not sending them – it really isn’t fair on you for them to do that.
Dear M, Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me, It is so frustrating, and i did forward your note to my publisher. If you see this, perhaps you could email me via my website or find me on facebook and tell me your email. Then I’d be happy to send you a book myself. Thanks again.
