Earlier this week, I taped a half hour interview with the host of Kuala Lumpur’s BFM 89.9 “The Bigger Picture,” Umapagan Ampikaipakan, and his producer, Lee Chwi Lynn.  I must admit, I’m becoming a bit of a ham. It’s such fun for me to sit and talk about A Clash of Innocents, my writing in general, and my work in Cambodia. Sure, it was great pr for me. But even more importantly, I met some welcoming people full of fascinating ideas. This world seems to get smaller and smaller for me all the time. I love knowing that I have friends all over the world now, and hopefully I’ll see them again next year, if not sooner.

The show aired live at 2 pm on Tuesday, 17 April, Kuala Lumpur time. But you can listen to it here at any time, forever after. If you get a chance, let me know what you thought. It’s so hard to know what it sounds like when you’re in the middle of it.

That’s Uma on the right, me in the middle, Lee Chwi Lynn on the left

And then the next day, I went out to the University of Putra Malaysia and spoke with the literature students of my friend, the Malaysian writer, Shivani Siguranathan. The students were so receptive, and asked such great questions. And they even bought books! Thanks so much, Shivani.
